Liquid Memory explores how photographs can both distort and construct our memories.
Using the expressive medium of Liquid Light emulsion, I wanted to evoke the imperfections and fragility of memory—how it fades, warps, or sometimes invents itself over time. Our lives are shaped by fleeting experiences and meaningful encounters. People come into our lives, leave their mark, and eventually depart, yet their presence lingers through memories and photographs. These images evoke nostalgia, allowing us to revisit shared moments and feel connected to what once was.
The same is true for places. I left Lebanon during the Civil War, and I remember very little of that time. Whether due to trauma or time, those years are mostly a blur. The photographs in this project are a way for me to reconcile with a lost childhood—one I can’t fully access. Through this work, I attempt to make peace with that absence and, in doing so, find a path toward hope and healing.
